Coronavirus 30th April.

POSITIVITY It is Captain Tom’s birthday. In a very positive way, today’s news has been dominated by celebrating his astonishing efforts to empower the NHS by fundraising £1000. This has now manifested itself as a sum of over £30 million, he has had a No 1 record with Michael Ball, had a military flypast by a WW11 hurricane and spitfire, received a medal by his former regiment, been made up to an honorary Colonel by the Queen, has received a message from the Prime Minister AND received enough birthday cards to fill the local school! This is the kind of thing that will bring us through this crisis!

Congratulations are also in order for the Prime Minister and his wife, who gave birth to a new baby boy yesterday. I wonder if he’ll name him Tom?

It seems that today’s topic to be handled in the daily Government briefing. Is likely to be testing. Apart from any delay in reporting, they have clearly missed their target of 100,000 by the end of this month. Telling us that they did 45,000 at the last count but that capacity was up to nearly 85,000, only makes me ask; “If there are such a large number of tests available, why are they not being used?”
